AFT combat standard
Some jobs are held to a higher bar on the same five events: at least 60 points in each event and 350 points total. It is sex-neutral and age-normed, so everyone is scored from the male (“M | C”) column of the official tables for their age band.
Dates
- 1 January 2026: Soldiers in covered specialties who are Regular Army, Active Guard Reserve, or Reserve Component Soldiers on active-duty orders for more than 60 days must meet the combat standard from this date.
- 1 June 2026: Soldiers serving in the Army Reserve component who are not in the group above have until this date.
- For promotion points, the general standard counts from 1 October 2025.

Who it applies to
The standard follows the military occupational specialty regardless of assignment. The Army’s AFT page lists these specialties as covered: 11A/B/C/Z, 12A/B, 13A/F, 18A/180A/18B/C/D/E/F/Z and 19A/C/D/K/Z. Confirm with your unit; the Army’s own page is the authority: army.mil/aft.
Check a score
Choose “Combat” under Standard in the AFT calculator. The Combat Field Test (a separate seven-event pass/fail test) is not scored here.
